Smithing

You roll a d20 and add your Smithing skill and Strength modifier to the roll. If the total is higher than the Difficulty Check, you succeed. If it is lower, you fail. And the resources involved are utterly wasted.

Crafting a basic weapon or tool from materials like iron or steel requires a difficulty check of 17. Different metals and materials have varying smithing difficulties and requirements.
