Intimidate

You roll a d20 and add your Intimidate skill and Strength modifier to the roll. If the total is higher than the Difficulty Check, you succeed. If it is lower, you fail.

  • Difficulty Check 0 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Very Easy):

  • scaring off a child or a nervous bystander.

  • Difficulty Check 5 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Easy):

  • Staring down a wary lone guard, making them think it might not be worth approaching your group and questioning their suspicious actions.

  • Difficulty Check 10 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Moderate):

  • Walking out ahead of your party and confronting a group of low-level thugs, causing them to back down or hesitate.

  • Difficulty Check 15 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Hard):

  • Intimidating a seasoned warrior or a hardened criminal into giving up valuable information.

  • Difficulty Check 20 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Very Hard):

  • Using a combination of threats and presence to cow a high-ranking official or a powerful rival into compliance.

  • By yourself confronting a group of low-level thugs, causing them to back down or hesitate.

  • Difficulty Check 25 Plus the target’s bravery/toughness (Legendary):

  • Breaking the will of a clearly more powerful force that greatly outnumbers your party, making them surrender or flee in terror from your mere presence.
